Absorption. Noise Reduction Coefficient 0.80 minimum for the 1 inch panel, per ASTM C423.
Surface burning. The Spirit Acoustics specification states that the panels meet the ASTM E84 surface burning requirements of flame spread 25 maximum and smoke developed 450 maximum, and that fire ratings for fabric covered panels are based on testing of the panel with Guilford of Maine FR 701 Style 2100 fabric.
Wall panels control how a room sounds. To stop speech travelling out of the room and into the one next door, see the Speech Guard System ceiling overlay. Absorption and blocking are different jobs, and most spaces that complain about privacy have plenty of the first and almost none of the second.
