Acoustic Ceiling Tile Backer

The Shield Guard Tile Backer is an acoustic ceiling tile backer: a dense barrier panel that sits on top of a standard lay-in ceiling tile and adds the mass the tile lacks. Speech that would pass through the tile into the shared plenum is stopped at the ceiling plane, and the tile itself stays in place.
The panel is a loaded vinyl barrier bonded to a polyester decoupler. The decoupler faces the back of the ceiling tile, so the barrier does not sit in direct contact with it, and the mass does its work without rattling or transferring vibration into the grid.
