A recessed light fixture is an opening in the ceiling plane. The Speech Guard Light Hood is an acoustic light hood that encloses the back of the fixture in the plenum, so speech cannot pass through the light into the space above and down into the next room. It installs over the existing fixture without removing the cross tee.
